These people sold me a used pick up truck and took my car in as a trade in, they never even wanted to take a look at it. I also bought insurance on the spot. It was one of those special deals for a holiday type of thing. I wrote them a post dated check for two months from the date I drove off with my truck.
About 3 or 4 weeks later I started recieving phone calls that I needed to return the truck. When I refused, because they did not have a reason other than they're boss wouldn't let the loan go through.they ran my credit at the event before I signed anything. All was approved then? I recieved a phone call from someone who said he was from the police dept in Garden Grove and that if I did not return the truck I would be charged with Grand Theft Auto. So, I got scared and arranged with the Dealership to return the truck after work one evening. When I arrived at the dealership, the person I had spoken to was not in and no one knew what I was talking about. So I returned home again with the truck.
The next morning I recieved a phone call from the same man from the dealership and he said he would be by to pick up truck and I could pick up my trade in at the dealership. He took the truck, I went to pick up my truck and again no one knew anything and he was not in. I had to leave with out my car and no one ever returned any phone calls and I never recieved my car back either!!!
About a week later I recieved a notice from my bank that they had cashed my check for 1500.00 !!! In Arizona, I live in California!!!
It is now several years later and I am finally able to have a checking account again, after their taking out the 1500. and other stuff bounced. And I still don't have a truck nor my car. And every time I've called there no one can help me with anything, they have no file for me and they hang up on me!!!!!
I'm sorry to hear about your issue, man. People can be really sneaky. I certainly hope you were able to alleviate the matter.
I had a car "sold to me" a few years back. Upon receiving the car, I placed vehicle wraps on it and fixed it up to make it aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, a few weeks later (after I paid for the car), I was informed that it was stolen and I had to pay to actually restore it back to its old style. It was insane.
